O.K. I don't know if this is *supposed* to be acheiveable but I got BOTH the unstoppable and the elusive traits at the SAME time. I mean this is GREAT for my character as he is unstoppable but I feel it eliminates most threats to my character and the only thing I fret about is food and water. of corse my character is already O.P. as I modded the XMl to give me 49 skill points(Mainly to test out new solutions to problems}.
The "Shadow of Death"? {SPOILERS}
Reverting to the past?
After I "beat" NEO scavenger(LOVE how NEO is explained as I wouldn't have catched on) and it said "New Game" I found myself able to resume from my last save, effectively allowing me to continue exploring. don't know if this is meant to happen or not sorry if im wasting forum space as this seems dumb to ask but wth I asked anyways.
Slippery slippers? (Possible bug)
What I really don't get is that my character's slippers fall off when hes stopping in a hex (Not moving), and the slippers just slip out!
Whats even crazier is that my slippers just pop out when I'm sleeping!
I'm not really bothered by this, I just find it entertaining that the slippers are extra buttery even when you're character is not moving and awhile he is sleeping.
(I guess it makes a bit of sense of when you are sleeping you're slippers fall off, but standing up in a hex seems a bit suspoicous...)
(Edit: Also happens awhile resting)
itchy metal eyes
ok so im 99.9999999999 precent sure I obtained defoliant exposure but no matter the case I still get the "your eyes are irritated and blurry" notice/effect even though I have the cybernetic eye augmentations. just wanted to tell yall this small bug. probably would be too much troble to fix as youd need a compleately new version of defoliant exposure once you get eye augs.
Camp Grayling Queries.
(Pre-complaint note to say fantastic game, something I've been wanting to play for years without knowing it existed. Perfect dark-room with headphones experience.)
Onto the meat of my problem:
1) I've just received the Camp Grayling quest from Hatter, but the Camp does not show up on my map, which feels wrong.
2) Having poked around the Neo Scavenger wiki a bit, I learned that Camp Grayling is the end-game. I've just arrived at DMC, used my tracking skill to bypass the Urn quest, and now the first quest I have gotten from Hatter is the end game one. This also doesn't feel right, particularly as I've seen forumites on the wiki talk about other Hatter quests.
If the game really is that short and Hatter really doesn't know the location of his retirement ensuring job, then, y'know, my bad.
Stranglers Hood
The hood can simply be disassembled into rags.
However, it still keeps strangling Philip.
Buying the Full Game
I was going to buy this game and I realised that, since I have an ASUS C300 Chromebook, I am unable to download nearly ANYTHING! So, with that in mind, I was wondering, when I buy it, can I play NEO Scavenger in-browser, or will Chrome allow me to download this?
Exploits, Bugs, and more fun stuff.
Exploits:
1.) Unlimited money [Requires Pot or Can] - Upon reaching Detroit, purchase as many water bottles as possible and find the nearest watering hole. Bring back filled water bottles and purify them using the lit barrels. Head to the junk yard and instead of selling the bottle, empty them for $10 each. You can stay in top condition by buying the "protein" meal for $7 at the last chance market and resting in the city. Vendors restock daily and sell backpacks, shopping carts, guns, and ammunition. All of which are always in 100% mint condition.
2.) Save/reload before encounters - If you're unsure of winning an encounter you can save and exit the game. If knocked unconscious you can force close the game and essentially reload at your last save. Will not work if you are at the game over screen.
3.) Enclave exploit [Untested] - Lure trackers (Dogman/BF Poachers) north of the Enclave towards you. Take off your amulet to summon the wraith which will fight the trackers. Once they have engaged you can enter and exit the Enclave which will always spawn you south of the camp. Once you have visual sight of the wraith you can put your amulet back on and check if the wraith has finished the job. Because the Enclave is always surrounded by forest, you can use fires to lure trackers within the vicinity. Combined with the Botanist trait you can circle the forest collecting berries and mushrooms to stay full and hydrated.
Bugs:
1.) Crafting Menu Glitches - Having near maximum items will cause the crafting screen to take a considerable amount of time to load. Attempting to navigate through blank pages and switching between known and resources tab will cause the tabs to become permanently blank. Attempting to save and exit will cause the game to force close and progress will not be saved.
2.) Scavenge Glitch - Extended run time causes the scavenge option to break. The player will no longer be able to use E or the button on the GUI.
3.) Attempting to drop/sell a vehicle and item to a full inventory will cause one to disappear.
[Steam] Demo cause cpu overheat
Hi,
First of all, Congratulations to the Dev of this amazing game!
I noticed this game on steam and decided to try the demo before buy.
My pc: intel i5 760 quad 2,88 ghz, 4 gb ram, Nvidia Evga Gtx460 1gb vram.
In game settings: big ui, stretch, filter on, 60 fps.
The game hog the cpu to 75% - 100% and after 15 minutes of play Intel Desktop Utilities raise an heat alarm for cpu.
I could play Dota 2, The Witcher 2, Company of Heroes at maximum settings for hours and no heat issues at all.
The full game will have the same problem?
Thanks in advance for replies.
Inventory Screen and unconsciousness
I'm working on a new drunkness system on my mod and came across something weird... If you fall unconscious on the Inventory Screen, the game gets stuck. All the buttons disappear like it usually happens but time does not pass.
What the new conditions do, is to deplete the tiredness bar the more they stack so overdoing it will render the player unconscious when you "use" the items causing it.
I didn't really know where to report this coz I think there is nothing in the vanilla game that can do this, I think.
"Vehicles and backpacks no longer degrading" exploit
Basically, any item that use the "fEquipDegradePerHour" function, like clothes, backpacks and vehicles, degrade only if they are currently equipped when the the turn pass. That's why sometimes happens that such items fall apart while sleeping, or resting and healing.
Other than not making much sense, especially for a vehicle standing still, it can leads to the simple habit to unequip your precious canvas bag, duffel bag and especially your shopping cart, before hitting the "End Turn" button. Allowing the player to keep items in proper conditions indefinitely.
Now, I lack the knowledge to estimate if it is possible or not, but adding a function that make an item degrade only for each movement it has been equipped on, should solve the issue. But I am also sure there are many other possible solutions.
I hope my explanation was clear enough, and in case sir Fedor reads this words, my thanks for this great game.
Turn Freeze Death
I guess this one is known. I've Goggled it but found only 1 source (here) and it didn't say much and was a year old.
I play through Steam.
It happened shortly after I killed the Wraith with only 1 hit with my Unstoppable "expose weakness" skill. Now I must say that although the creature was dead I still had combat actions (melee in this case and I hit it again). I got the death screen where the portal opens. I went in, looked at them through binoculars, looked over the various books, and then the storyline whisked me out. Shortly after that, perhaps a turn or two at most, I had no control over the game (I pressed end turn just prior). The game just ran and I dehydrated to death.
I save my games (Save and Quit, and then copy the nsSGv1.sol) so I went back to the encounter, killed the wraith again (but this time didn't hit it again when it was already dead and the game did allow me the option to hit it again when it was dead) went into the portal as before (did all I did before) and came out, again with 3 pieces of loot on the ground, and it seems to work fine now.
It's possible that the act of saving somehow corrupts some files. I'm not sure about that. It's a beta so I save because I don't want to die in some silly fashion (as above), and that's how I roll anyway :)
I did notice however, that, now, when I scavenge a building I enter the screen where it lists your option (crowbar, etc., plus the running man icon - leave the scavenging screen). Except it doesn't say "leave the scavenging", or whatever it said before to leave, but now says "scavenge", and I do not in any way recall it being that way before. It still takes me out of scavenging but that's an oddity. ***Edit: Actually that screen says "Scavenging a Hex" and it's probably how it worked before.
Just reporting what I've seen for now.
The game is, nonetheless, remarkably stable.
Thank you.
Wait, are those Dogman tracks? Melonhead tracks? wait...is it jesus???
alright I don't no why but everytime I get to the Greatlakes (so im guessing NEOscav is on the peninsula part of Michigan then) EVERY SINGLE HEX that is deep water has old faded tracks that I cant identify for some reason. now it may be some insignificant bug or maybe im just a dumba$$ and didn't realize every hex has faded footprints in the corner(seriously if they do I swear I didn't know) that light-up when the hax is walked on. either way I wanted to address this and if it is somehow meant to happen as I stated earlier im sorry for the intrusion and waste of forum space.
Save Game unable to load
I'm using the downloaded Steam version. V1.0 12/12/2014
I've saved my game, and copied it to a backup folder (I only keep one save backed up at a time). When I now try to continue the save game it comes up with the following I've tried uninstalling the game and deleting the Folder in the AppData. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be working when I try to load it again.
I have attempted to start a new game and save that, copy it, etc.. And that all works fine. I'm just wondering if this particular save is somehow corrupted. I don't mind starting over, I was only a few hours in this one anyway.
I still have the copy of the save file if that will help. Let me know if you want a copy of the save file and how I should send it if you do.
Junk Market "stole" my laptop full of valuable info!
I´ve found a laptop early with some txt files worth about $650 (first time that I find something valuable inside these gears!). I went happy to junk market to sell them. There, I "transfered" the laptop to junk market´s inventory to open space in mine and would "buy" it to recover. Sadly, the laptop is now stucked and I can´t transfer it me (bastards, got it for about $65 and it values ten times that!) I´m too frustated at it... I have the save files if needed to figure out what is going on. Thanks
Immortality bug(indirect possibility)
It appears Philip has found a paper plant inside the ventilation and the electrical panel!
He can now rule the world!
Cool Guy Philip Kindred says hello in his native language.
To clarify, you can keep clicking on the event to get a possibly infinite number of recipies for HVAC and lighting.
Cannot save games long term. Debian Linux.
I thoroughly enjoy Neo Scavenger and I am willing to help determine/fix/troubleshoot any issues or bugs found. Let me know if you need me to narrow the testing criteria to help resolve.
Problem
When I save a game in wine (as 32 bit windows xp environment) or in Steam (which emulates an Ubuntu 12.04 32/64 bit environment), the initial saved game will reload. Issue is after I reboot my machine, the saved game is no longer available to Neo Scavenger. I do not have any experience running/playing flash games until Neo Scavenger, so I have little to no idea about why this is happening. My best guess is 1 of 2 things is happening:
1. My local storage space is being cleared every reboot.
2. The saved game is not actually saving to disk but to memory.
Important Points

Queen Liza visiting Zom Zom's?
so, it's the 18 September and I've just been scavenging around the Cryo Facility. I'm standing a few tiles away from Zom Zom's (haven't been there yet) when suddenly I see a blue frog with a military shotgun coming from its direction. upon closer inspection the game tells me it's Queen Liza. I haven't been anywhere near saginaw in this playthrough. is this supposed to happen? what if I'd kill her now would that limit my choices in saginaw later?
I'm playing with the Extended NeoScav mod in case that makes a difference.
A possible minor oversight about water purification tablets
I am referring to the fact that water purification tablets can't be identified, not even if the player own the medic skill, remaining "pink pills" when taken out of their named bottle.
The only thing I am not sure, is if would be better to identify such chemical with the trapping skill, instead of the medic one, but I'll let the developer's and people's opinions, decide for that.
[v1.01] Bugs and issues
The way, or at least range, at which game is "forgetting" that you scavenged a hex is badly off. If I recall the "News" section update right, the scavenging locations reset if player walks more than 10 hexes away from a previously looted hex.
This is simply way too short distance - 10 hexes is shorter than a single scavenging expedition usual distance. Staying at the Cryo, for example, I can walk to Bob's, looting everything on my way, and on my way back I can re-scavenge the hexes near the Cryo again. And it takes what? Like 4-6 turns. With boots and in good health, it takes two turns to walk that distance, in fact, so it can be repeated several times daily. Finding a cluster of urban hexes (or utilizing ZZ's vicinity) can be really easy exploited for near endless looting spots, this way.
The whole method seems rather counter-intuitive, but if it has to be this way, make the "reset distance" more like 50-70 hexes. More than it will take for the character to walk for a day, basically.
---
There is also a bug related to that system - Cryo Facility scavenging location resets among all the others, meaning that player who walked more than 10 hexes from Cryo hex and then returned, is now able to scavenge the placer once more, every time.
